Aarohan envisions an India where a quality education will be received by every child in the country, regardless of their social or economic standing.

Working in the area of education for underprivileged children, Aarohan’s focus is on helping children who live below the poverty line to gain admission into government schools and to subsequently support their academic pursuits so that they do not drop-out.

Taking into consideration the resources available in Government Schools – the large number of class rooms and thus the number of children in these schools can absorb. Aarohan believes that the existing government schools should be put to optimum use. Our model of development therefore works with resources that the government already provides.

With the humblest of beginnings in 2005, we started this journey from our basement with slum children who were not going to school, by helping to get admissions in the schools. We conducted after-school tuition classes for the same children.

As our students found great relief in the support we provided them with their homework, course-work and certain “problem subjects”, we learnt that by creating such a support system, the complete potential of the government literacy infrastructure could be utilized so as to truly benefit the children enrolled there.

Five years on, encouraged by our children’s academic progress and to accommodate the increasing number of students joining Aarohan, we not only run academic support programs, but have also partnered with MCD schools to increase the reach and effectiveness of our work. As a reward In January 2009 we got permission to use the premises of "MCD Girls Primary school, Malviya Nagar" with the kind help of Rotary Club.
